The idea of organizing in Stockholm a new, interesting music event that would combine the high professional level with elaborate democracy and access to the young people at all stages of musical education came into being at the end of 2009 and belonged to the teachers at the Academy of Music "Maestro" in Stockholm Galina Erngren and Anna Sundin, as well as founder and chief organizer of the Savshinsky International Competition in St. Petersburg Dmitry Mikhailov. They formed the basis of the SIMCs Organizing Committee. The initiative was almost immediately taken up and supported by major government organizations in Sweden - RUM (State Association of Young Musicians Sweden), KMH (Royal Academy of Music), Herzen University, St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory. The main venue for all competitions was the Historical Museum in Stockholm. The jury includes professors and lecturers of Stockholm and St. Petersburg Conservatory, as well as other institutions of higher and secondary educational institutions in Sweden, Russia, Finland, Serbia, Estonia, Belgium, the Netherlands and the United States. The First competition, held in May of 2010, brought together more than 280 participants. The positive public response has prompted the organizers to make the contest a regular event. The Second competition, held in May 2012, had a record number of participants - about 600 young musicians from Europa, Russia, USA, China. The Third competition was held in June 2014 with equal success, gathering over 600 participants from 35 countries. The Fourth, Fifth and Sixth races in 2015, 2016 and 2017 gathered young talent from 23 countries. The master classes were organized within the frame of the competition, so that students can get practical help and inspirational advice. The next competition will take place from May 30 to June 2, 2019, and will be conducted in collaboration between the Semibrevis Cultural Association, the Maestro Academy, the RUM, the Historical Museum, the South Latin High School, Adolf Fredriks Music Classes, Herzen University, the Long Island Conservatory of Music and other.
